What I Look For First in Complex Kids

The Nervous System

 

Many children I see are living in constant nervous system activation.

This can look like:

• anxiety

• sensory sensitivity

• sleep disturbances

• emotional volatility

• chronic fight-or-flight

When the nervous system is overwhelmed, the body struggles to regulate inflammation, digestion, and immune activity.

Metabolic Stability

 

Many complex kids struggle with:

• unstable blood sugar

• mineral depletion

• adrenal stress

• mitochondrial fatigue

These patterns make the body less resilient to stress, infections, and environmental triggers.

The Gut & Immune Signaling

• digestion is disrupted

• the microbiome is unbalanced

This can contribute to symptoms involving:

• mood

• focus

• behavior

• inflammation

Environmental Load

 

Some children are extremely sensitive to environmental factors such as:

• food sensitivities

• histamine reactions

• chemical exposures

These can place additional stress on the immune and nervous systems.
